Produced as part of the Tête à Tête opera festival at the Platform Theatre, King's Cross, Possession! is a new opera written by Alexander Campkin with a libretto and directed by Roland Reynolds.

 

The opera splices two different periods in time, as two extraordinary tales of love, romance, passion and despair simultaneously unfold.

 

Following the poet Robert Browning's courtship letters from 1845 onwards, and letters from South African feminist Olive Schreiner seventy years later, each portion of the tale weaves together the full story.
